Colonial Williamsburg, VA. November 1st-2nd

On Wednesday the Archer family embarked on a touring of the beautiful town of Williamsburg. The old replicas of colonial houses and vendor shops displayed their many contents with a welcoming American warmth. We visited many diverse shops, including a blacksmith, carpentry, wig, needle work, and gunsmith shop. Each small shop was unique and a lot of fun to visit. After visiting these shops, we took a guided tour of the Governor's Palace. This was definitely one of the highlights of Williamsburg. The moment we walked inside, we were in awe of the spectacular display of weapons. Five-hundred and forty weapons were on display throughout the palace, most of which were at the entrance. Outside the palace was beautiful landscaping which included, to our delight, a shrub maze. Winding through the shrubbery was a neat experience for all of us. After we finished running through the maze, we hurried to the main street where we joined a crowd to watch a reenactment of early Colonial Williamsburg during the War for Independence. This funny reenactment depicted the early effects of the Revolution on the citizens of America and the hardships and trials they faced from day to day. Right before the Continental Army gun demonstration, Jackson, Jared, Jud, and I got to take part of the action by marching behind the lines of the drums and fifes. It was a truly memorable experience. To wrap up an already history filled day, we headed back to our camper and watched history movies (didn't see that coming, did you?), ate dinner, and hurried to bed so that we could do more history touring early the next morning.
Below are some pictures that Katie snapped in Williamsburg. Enjoy!

Private tour of Our Lady Liberty

11-9-11

On Ellis Island! :)
Woohoo

11-9-11, Statue of Liberty

Good morning! Absolutely beautiful day here in NYC, sunny and about 68 degrees. Perfect day to go see Our Lady Liberty on (well super close to) her 125th birthday! :)
Just boarded ferry to go see her. Sadly, she's still getting her face lift so we won't be able to go up. Oh well, just so happy to be here. Having a great, great time with jason and the kids!

The Exciting Adventures of Day 2

So day 1 and a part of day 2 brought us all the way to the American Heritage RV Park in Williamsburg, Virginia, where our excursion finally "landed" (as in the Ford Excursion). After catching up on some rest and getting showered up after the long trip, we headed out to the neat town of Colonial Williamsburg, which is basically like a step back to the past, with people in costume and a lot of famous speeches and scenes reenacted. There were a bunch of old court houses, shoe making shops, post offices, and all kinds of interesting shops and houses. We are all excited to go back again, because we couldn't see all that we wanted today. With that being said, please join us for more exciting fun tomorrow as we spend the day at TBD (to be determined over night-time meeting) :)

Thanks for reading
